PROJECT OPPORTUNITY
The Brownies is a community network founded by Brianna Agyemang (@bri_anna) and Ayanna Wilks (@ayannaw). The group promotes culture, good vibes and black girl magic across a series of events and experiences. As The Brownies gained popularity they started to explore additional creative outlets.


DESIGN CONCEPT

I originally started designing posters and event communication for The Brownies. The popularity of these events lead to opportunities for Brownie specific merchandise. After a few test on tshirts and other quick turn around merch, The Brownies created their first product called “The Brownie Twist Chain”. The necklace was a nod to the nameplates that Brianna and Ayanna wore as teenage girls growing up in Brooklyn. In our early conversations The Brownie team wanted a graphic treatment that was bold, unique, simple and clearly identifiable. To capture these qualities I created a subtle twist graphic with a chunky slab serif typeface. This approach allowed for a bold visual effect and easy material production.

IRL APPLICATIONS
The Brownie Twist chain quickly sold out after launch and became popular with many members of the Brownie community.
